FAQS

Bundled Software .. Since I offer completely FREE ScreenSavers, (along with FREE Wallpaper and FREE Internet Post Cards), all the costs involved comes straight out of my own pocket.  It is completely necessary for me to use affiliate sites, who host my downloads, in order for me to be able to afford the bandwidth on my own domain.  Now, due to the saturation of bundled software, when you download one of my Screen Savers from one of my affiliate sites, you will be offered a chance to download other software.  My serious suggestion to you is to NOT agree to download any 'extra' software during the installation of any of my Screen Savers or Wallpaper.  It's important, while installing *any* software onto your computer to take things slowly, one step at the time.  Pay attention to the messages that appear on the windows on your screen, and it really IS important to read the EULA.  That's the "End Users License Agreement".

Trojan/Virus Warnings from your Anti-Virus Program .. I've offered free Screen Savers and Wallpaper for many years, as downloads on the net.  No one has ever, ever gotten a 'real' trojan or virus from any of my files.  If your updated Anti-Virus program tells you that one of the 'wrapped' or 'bundled' files from one of my download hosts has a trojan/virus, the odds are 99.99% that the file is completely 'free' of trojan/virus, but your Anti-Virus program is reading the bundled files as a "trojan" or a "virus".  I am now offering an alternative to downloading my Original Screen Savers.  You can order a collection of my Screen Savers on a CD, the files on those are 'mine', my 'original' files, there is NO bundled software involved, NO advertising ware, NO spyware on one of my CD's.

Those Annoying Pop Up Ads .. At this point in time, I AM NOT using any 'pop-up' adds on MY site, but I do understand how important they are to the economy of the net, and they are easily dismissed, just 'X' them out if you aren't interested.  If you receive a pop up ad, this means that you've left my site, and are now on a site which is beyond my control.  Even the final download pages for my Screen Savers are NOT on my site, they are on my download host's site, therefore I have no control over those pages.

There are many programs that are available on the net that 'kill' the pop-up ads.  My favorite is NoAds .. this one works on all Browsers and all Windows Systems, including XP.

As always .. it's your responsibility to know what websites you've visited before visiting my site, and it's your responsibility to make sure you didn't 'bring with you' any extra windows, or advertisements, or pop-ups, or whatever.

Helpful tools to have .. There are many programs that are available on the net that 'kill' the pop-up ads.  My favorite is NoAds .. this one works on all Browsers and all Windows Systems, including XP.  AdAware Version 6, (the latest version, and a 'free' version), recognizes the files and cookies from most adware and sypware files.  I've been running this program for a long time, and I find it extremely helpful.

Surfing the net now .. There are too many 'get rich quick' schemes out there now for me to keep up with.  I strongly suggest running 'security' programs, such as 'pop up killers', adware killers, and spyware killers.

Screen Savers on a CD .. If you prefer to purchase any of AnnieReb's Original Screen Savers on a CD, (my original files, no adware, no spyware, no bundled software),  instead of downloading the file from the net, please

I'm sure you are aware that ScreenSavers by Annie*Reb* are posted on the net as "FREE" Screen Savers. This is exactly what I mean .. they are "FREE"!

It has come to my attention that sometimes, (very seldom), someone who attempts to run one of these "FREE" Screen Savers gets scrolling messages which states that this Screen Saver is only a 'demo', and that you must go purchase the license to run these.

Please be aware that if that happens with ANY of my Screen Savers, I did NOT design the Screen Saver this way, something has gone wrong. Do NOT send money to anyone, including me. You require NO license or registration to use one of my Screen Savers.

Usually if this scrolling message appears on one of the Screen Savers, it simply means that you received a bad download, which corrupted some of the important working files. Just uninstall the Screen Saver; make sure all of it is off your system. Re-boot your computer so that Windows can totally clear the files from your system. Then just go back to my site and download a fresh copy of the Screen Saver.

One time out of 10,000 this message will appear on one of my Screen Savers because sometime in the past, "YOU", have downloaded the demo program from either PhotoOp or DevKit. The 'demo' will over ride any other Screen Savers created with these programs. This means that you need to uninstall the demo in order to use one of my working Screen Savers.

One time out of 50,000 a message will pop up on a Screen Saver stating that this is "Pirated Software".

I assure you that I purchased, (not inexpensively), the registration and the license to distribute Screen Savers.

The same reasons cause this .. a bad download, corrupted files, etc.  The same 'fix' applies.  Uninstall the Screen Saver, clear all the files from your system.  Then re-start your computer so that Windows can clear all the files.  Go back to my site, and download a fresh copy of the Screen Saver.

One time out of 100,000, a download of one of the 'floating collage' Screen Savers that were created with PhotoOp will give you a false warning, and take you to the FBI site on the net.  I assure you, this is NOT a fault of mine, nor yours, the problem lies with the way the Author of the program, PhotoOp, coded the program.  It seems he had problems with people 'stealing' his program, therefore he 'coded' it this way.  Although I paid the full amount for the Professional version of this program, which supposedly gave me full registration and distribution rights for any Screen Saver I create under my own copyright, the Author leaves this 'code' in the purchased version.  Please address complaints for this problem to the Author of PhotoOp,  Jeff Menish.

Please remember to read the "readme" files if any are included in a downloaded Screen Saver.

A Sad Fact of Life .. my regular visitors know that I've been creating and offering Free Screen Savers for several years.  My regular visitors know that I'm a responsible webmaster.  My regular visitors also know that I've not created a new Screen Saver for download in quite a while.  The problem?  It's a bit difficult to be 'creative' when doing battle with all the 'get rich quick' schemes out there now, and the sites who now have all of my Screen Savers available on 'questionable' sites for download. The saddest fact .. I will ignore and delete any 'screaming' email that I receive from a visitor.  I've always been very careful to answer any email from any visitor honestly and carefully.  I'll no longer even acknowledge any email that is phrased impolitely.  I'm truely sorry for the bad manners that now drown us on the 'net'. But those of you who remember how to write a polite inquiry will receive a reply from me.
